Arabian Business is committed to honouring outstanding companies, businesses and entrepreneurs for their success, despite the difficult economic and geopolitical challenges facing the region as a whole.  Our awards this year covered various business sectors and reflected the great advances Saudi Arabia has made throughout the year 

 

Winners of the Arabian Business KSA Awards 2019

The first prize went to a company which is a well-respected and highly experienced district cooling developer. With its headquarters based in Khobar, Eastern Province, it is operated as a closed joint stock company with key shareholders that include Vision Invest, Tabreed UAE, and IDB Infrastructure Fund (majority owned by PIF) and runs a current contracted capacity of 378,000 tons of refrigeration in KSA and approximately one million tons refrigeration across the GCC with more than 75 plants.

Following the successful commissioning of King Khaled International Airport District Cooling Plant, it was no surprise that the winner of District Cooling Developer of The Year was Saudi Tabreed.

Our second winner was a bank which was involved in the recent successful Saudi Aramco IPO. Founded 62 years ago, the bank’s ambitious new CEO has big plans for the lender’s future.

“We are working towards being the number one bank in the kingdom. We are positioning Riyad to be among the top players in the market across corporates, SMEs, and financial technology,” Tariq Al-Sadhan told us this month.

With Q3 profits up 59 percent year-on-year, the winner of Fastest Growing Bank of The Year was Riyad Bank

The kingdom’s tourism sector has made huge advances this year with the opening up of the tourist visa system, the creation of many top class cultural events and the unveiling of plans for theme parks, hotels and entertainment venues.  Our next winner was the kingdom’s largest travel company and it plans to be even bigger, with a goal to double the gross value of its bookings in the next four years to 16bn Saudi riyals. 

Our winner of Tourism Company of The Year was the newly rebranded Seera.

The next winner was one of the most recognizable brand names in the world and earlier this month it was one of the key participants in Arabnet Riyadh, the Kingdom’s largest technology event.

It also teamed up with Saudi Payments to host the Saudi eCommerce Forum 2019, which brought together key players and innovators in the Saudi financial sector, and Mike Froman the company’s vice chairman and president of strategic growth, was among the main speakers in the Future Investment Initiative (FII) 2019. It is no surprise then that the winner of Technology Company of The Year was Mastercard

Our next winner was someone who works as part of a Saudi conglomerate which has completed $9.10 billion worth of projects and has another $11.50bn in the pipeline.

Heading up one of the two major contracting companies under the MNG Group of Companies and a driving force in the Kingdom’s construction sector, his company has been active in many countries, most notably in Turkey.

The next winner was a software company founded in June 2014 and specialised in providing consulting services and offshore software development. Its strength is built upon a talented team of engineers with decades of cumulative years of experience in the field.

Our next winner was a location which has enjoyed great relations with Saudi Arabia in recent years. The Saudi Development Fund has pumped millions into helping its energy sector and has even supported the island nation in the areas of environment and climate change. In fact, its president also made an official visit to the kingdom earlier this year. But, on top of that, it is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, with 115 islands in the Indian Ocean.

The next winner was a company which was established in 1983 with a hefty task: tackling the world’s housing problems.

It’s solution? It recently teamed up with Mohamed Hadid to build Skyline, which will be the largest residential building in the world, based on Guinness World Records. It’s a project unlike any other, not just in Egypt but anywhere in the world.

Therefore, the winner of the Award for Innovation was Memaar Al Morshedy. Receiving the award is Hassan Morshedy, CEO of Memaar Al Morshedy.

Our next winner was an Arab entrepreneur who owns and manages a diverse group of companies that offer a wide-range of services. Her professional history began in the media industry before branching out into media production and consulting, marketing, PR, financial investments, medical and manufacturing.

Her media production and consulting arm has worked on several award-winning productions such as The Millions Poet and Prince of Poets. She was the first person to set up the Middle East Film Festival and the EMMY awards in the Middle East and has consulted and cast for several Hollywood productions.

It was our pleasure to announce the Business Woman of The Year as Nashwa Al Ruwaini.

Our final winner was a subsidiary of the Saudi Technology Development and Investment Company (TAQNIA), owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Established in 2017 it aims to operate and manage entrepreneurship support platforms, innovation and technology transfer programs, in addition to project management, specialized consultancy, training services and human resource capacity building.

The winner of Incubator and Accelerator Operator of The Year is BIAC – the Business Incubators and Accelerators Company (BIAC)
