Emirates Tees Up Six-year Return To Dubai Desert Classic
Emirates has announced a six-year partnership with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, marking a return to one of the region’s most established sporting events and reinforcing the airline’s long-standing association with golf in Dubai.
The agreement reunites Emirates with the tournament it first sponsored in 1989, the year the Dubai Desert Classic was founded. The event, the longest-running golf tournament in the Middle East, opens the DP World Tour’s Rolex Series and is staged annually on the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club.
Emirates renews longstanding golf partnership
Under the partnership, Emirates will serve as an official partner of the tournament, gaining prominent branding across the course, scoreboards, buggies and spectator areas, alongside digital exposure. The airline will also offer premium hospitality, Pro-Am participation opportunities and exclusive experiences for guests during the event.
“The Hero Dubai Desert Classic has long been a pillar of Dubai’s sporting calendar, showcasing the city’s premier golf courses to the world and attracting the sport’s biggest names. We’ve been part of that story since the tournament’s early days, helping elevate its reach and reputation,” Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said.
He added that the tournament now draws thousands of visitors to the emirate, with golf fans across the world following the action through broadcasts and digital platforms, further amplifying Dubai’s standing as a “world-class sports destination.”
“What began as a showcase of world-class golf has grown into a much broader experience, defined by exceptional hospitality, entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere that appeals to fans of all ages,” said Simon Corkill, Executive Tournament Director of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
“These are values we proudly share with Emirates, and together we look forward to delivering an outstanding 37th edition for players, partners, and spectators alike. As we welcome an exceptional line up featuring Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Shane Lowry and Viktor Hovland, we are equally excited to see this partnership strengthen and flourish in the years ahead,” Corkill added.
Emirates currently supports 21 golf tournaments across 26 countries and has been the official airline partner of the DP World Tour since 2014. The airline has also partnered with the DP World Tour Championship since its launch in 2009, playing a key role in bringing elite golfers to Dubai.
The 2026 Hero Dubai Desert Classic will take place from 22 to 25 January and will feature leading international players, including four-time champion Rory McIlroy, competing for a share of the tournament’s $9 million prize fund.
Organisers said the renewed partnership underlines Dubai’s position as one of the world’s leading golf destinations, supported by world-class courses, facilities and a growing calendar of international tournaments.
