Saudi Pro League: Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Scoring Record With 35 Goals, Al Hilal End Season Undefeated

Saudi Pro League season ends with Cristiano Ronaldo topping scoring charts and Al Hilal winning the league as undefeated champions

The Saudi Pro League season has come to an end with Cristiano Ronaldo breaking scoring records and Al Hilal topping the table with an invincible season.

Ronaldo topped the scoring charts after two more goals for Al Nassr in the final round of fixtures to take his season tally to 35.

It is the most goals by a single player in the history of the Saudi Pro League and further illustration of the 39-year-old former Real Madrid man’s dominance in the developing league.

Cristiano Ronaldo breaks Saudi Pro League record

Despite his advancing years and a string of high-profile signings in the Kingdom, Ronaldo remains the brightest star in the Saudi Pro League and has now scored 64 goals in 69 games for Al Nassr.

His arrival from Manchester United began a new era for football in the Kingdom when he signed a lucrative contract to become the highest paid player in the history of football when joining on a free transfer in January 2023.

Despite Ronaldo’s scoring exploits on an individual level, Al Hilal were the league’s dominant side.

Al Nassr were denied top spot by an Al Hilal side who were already named champions earlier this month.

However, a final-day 2-1 win over Al Wehda means the Riyadh-based side ended the season without a single league defeat.

The season got off to a rocky start for Al Hilal after star signing Neymar was injured after just three matches, but a campaign that emphasised defence as much as attack saw them embark on a record-breaking run of victories and no defeats.

Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus said: “This season has been truly exceptional for the team, arguably our best ever. The credit goes to the immense talent within the squad and the incredible sense of unity that transcends both on and off-field interactions.”
