WTA No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and ATP star Nick Kyrgios are set to play each other at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena on 28 December 2025 in what has been billed as “Battle of the Sexes: The Dubai Showdown”.
The concept is positioned as a contemporary take on the 1973 Battle of the Sexes, when Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs in a landmark moment for women’s sport. Organisers said the Dubai edition aims to celebrate elite performance, sportsmanship and fan engagement, while highlighting two of the game’s most high-profile personalities.
Sabalenka, who is based in Dubai, said she was proud to represent women’s tennis in such a format. “I have so much respect for Billie Jean King and what she has done for the women’s game. Dubai is my home and I know this city loves big, entertaining events. I have a lot of respect for Nick and his talent, but I am ready to bring my A game,” she said.
Kyrgios said he accepted the invitation because it came from the world No. 1. “I have massive respect for Aryna, she is a powerhouse and a champion. I am not just here to play, I am here to entertain. Dubai can get ready for a show,” he said.
Mark McFarlane, managing director of TLive, said the match was designed to create a memorable occasion for local and international fans. “We are bringing together two of tennis’s most compelling personalities for a night that celebrates skill, showmanship and respect on and off the court,” he said.
