NFL Star Plans Avengers-style Golf Tournament For Dubai

Former NFL star Reggie Bush has revealed plans to bring a celebrity-driven golf tournament to Dubai, describing the concept as an “Avengers-style” gathering of elite athletes from across global sport.

Speaking at the World Sports Summit during a panel titled The Player as the CEO: Deconstructing the On-Field Persona for Off-Field Profit, Bush said the city would be an ideal host for what he calls the United Athletes Tour.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to be able to hopefully bring a golf tournament here to Dubai, because I think this would be a great host city for a tournament of what we’re bringing,” Bush told the audience.

Athletes unite for Dubai golf

The former Super Bowl winner said the tour is designed to unite current and former athletes from multiple sports in a competitive but entertainment-led format. “It’s going to be a combination of athletes from football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, tennis,” he said. “This is for all athletes, and this is the first time that anything like this has been done.”

Bush added that golf’s broad appeal makes it uniquely suited to the concept. “Golf is one of the few sports that it’s for everybody – old, young, kids, grandma, grandpa, men, women. It don’t matter. Golf is for everybody,” he said.

Explaining the inspiration behind the format, Bush said: “I feel like I’m going after the Avengers, right? I’m trying to put together the best group of athletes who want to compete, who want to have fun, but also bring personality and style to the game.”

He said the aim is to translate the flair seen in elite team sports into golf. “Style is most important – the way you play the game,” Bush said. “Those are all things that we want to bring to the game of golf.”

The panel also featured Baron Davis, Swin Cash and Marques Colston, and focused on how athletes are increasingly building businesses and investment platforms beyond their playing careers, with Dubai positioned as a growing hub for sport, capital and global events.
