Mohammed Salah Top Target For Saudi Pro League After Neymar Leaves Al Hilal: Reports

Mohamed Salah has emerged as a top target for the Saudi Pro League, following the departure of Neymar Jr, according to media reports.
Riyadh club Al Hilal have cancelled the contract of Brazil star Neymar by mutual consent and Salah could be the next big-name star to join the Saudi Pro League.
Neymar joined Al Hilal for a reported $95m on a contract reported to be worth $300m for two seasons.
Salah to replace Neymar in Saudi Pro League’s Al Hilal
Serious injury limited Neymar to just 428 minutes of action for the Saudi side and his contract has been cut short allowing him to return to former club Santos in Brazil.
According to a report in the Telegraph, it leaves Al Hilal with money to spare and Liverpool legend Mohammed Salah as the number one target.
The Egyptian has long been a target of clubs in the Saudi Pro League, with Liverpool turning down an offer of $180m from Al Ittihad for his services in 2023.
Despite this, rumours of Mohammed Salah eventually accepting an offer from Saudi Arabia have remained. With his current contract running out in the summer it would allow Salah to sign for another club without a fee being owed to Liverpool.
Contract negotiations are ongoing between the Egyptian and Liverpool, the most successful English football club of all time.
Despite Liverpool standing at the top of the English Premier League and revamped UEFA Champions League tables a move may still happen.
According to the Telegraph report, Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia have emerged as favourites thanks to a FIFA rule loophole.
The FIFA Council has approved rules for an “exceptional” transfer window between June 1 and June 10, which will allow clubs to “seek to address technicalities and equalise inconsistencies created by different registration periods… between participating clubs”.
It means that teams participating in the Club World Cup in the US between June 14 and July 13 to sign new players.
Al Hilal will represent Saudi Arabia in the tournament alongside teams such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
Adding Mohammed Salah to a team that already tops the Saudi Pro League table and will be playing in the very highest of profile tournaments would be seen as a major coup for Al Hilal.
Any offer for Salah would surely make him one of the highest paid footballers in the world alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
