IN PICTURES: Spartan Trifecta Powered By ADNOC Draws 4,500 To Al Ain Zoo For Weekend Of Sport And Community
Al Ain Zoo was transformed into a hub of endurance and community spirit over the weekend as more than 4,500 athletes and spectators took part in the Spartan Trifecta powered by ADNOC, a major fitness event supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
Held on 11-12 October, the event brought together amateur and elite athletes from across the region to tackle Spartan’s signature race formats: the Sprint 5K with 20 obstacles, the Super 10K with 25, and the Beast 21K with 30. Many competitors attempted all three distances to earn the coveted Trifecta medal, completing a combined 36 kilometres of rugged, obstacle-packed terrain.

Set against the backdrop of Al Ain Zoo, racers clambered over walls, swung across ropes and plunged through mud under the watchful eyes of the park’s wildlife. Younger athletes joined in the Spartan Kids races, designed for children aged four to fourteen, encouraging confidence, fitness and fun in a safe environment.
As title partner, ADNOC underscored its support for health, wellbeing and community engagement through sport. The company’s collaboration with Spartan aligns with its wider sponsorship portfolio, which includes the Al Ain Marathon, Al Dhafra Marathon, Abu Dhabi Marathon, and the newly launched Open Master Games.
Samsung joined as an official partner, energising the festival village with interactive brand activations and presenting Galaxy Watch8 prizes to race winners. Medals and trophies were awarded across the competitive Sprint and Beast categories by representatives from ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Al Ain Zoo, Samsung and ITP Media Group.

Isla Watt, Director of Spartan Middle East, said the Trifecta weekend was “one of our most ambitious events to date”.
“The setting, the atmosphere and the calibre of competition captured what makes Spartan unique in this region. With ADNOC and our partners, we’ve raised the bar for obstacle racing in the Middle East,” she said.
Beyond the races, the festival village offered food trucks, live entertainment and family activities, ensuring the weekend had as much appeal for spectators as for competitors.
Building on September’s Spartan City Race at Etihad Arena, the Al Ain Trifecta marked another milestone in Spartan’s regional expansion. The organiser said a full calendar of upcoming Middle East races will be announced in the months ahead.
