Facebook Deletes Scam Bitcoin Post Claiming To Be Linked To Abu Dhabi Crown Prince
Facebook said it had a dedicated team in place to detect fake news or scam posts

Facebook has announced it has a dedicated team in place to detect fraudulent or fake posts on its social media platform after it emerged fraudsters had used the image of Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince as part of a Bitcoin scam.
The fake news story, which appeared as a sponsored post, claimed Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, had endorsed a scheme that would help users to earn large returns from a cryptocurrency investment company.
The National reported that thousands of people had believed the scam and had shared their names and personal information with the criminals.
Facebook has since deleted the post.
“We want people to be able to trust the connections they make on Facebook. Claiming to be another person on Facebook violates our Community Standards, and we have a dedicated team that’s tasked with helping to detect and block these kinds of scams,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement.
