Dubai Marathon 2025: RTA Announces Major Road Closures And Extended Metro Service On Sunday, January 12

Dubai transport authorities have announced major road closures and extended Metro operating hours ahead of the Dubai Marathon 2025, on Sunday January 12.

The hugely popular athletics and fitness event will take to the streets on Sunday morning with an elite field of runners as well as thousands of amateur joggers and enthusiasts.

The race begins at 6am and is scheduled to run until 1pm on Sunday.

However, road closures to accommodate the event will start at midnight and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority advised people to plan trips in advance.

The RTA issued a statement on X, saying: “Check out the road map for #DubaiMarathon2025, kicking off on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 6am until 1pm.

“Plan your trip in advance and consider heading out earlier to ensure your timely arrival and avoid delays.

“Kindly note that a section of Umm Suqeim Street (the section between Al Wasl Road and Jumeirah Road) will be closed starting midnight. Traffic flow will be effectively managed throughout the race, with designated crossing areas on both sides of Jumeirah Street and King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.

“A lane will also be opened along both streets after the elite athletes pass, in coordination with Dubai Police”.

Affected roads will be:

  • Umm Suqeim Street     
  • Jumeirah Street     
  • King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street      
  • Al Naseem Street   

Meanwhile, closed roads will be part of Umm Suqeim Street between Al Wasl Road and Jumeirah Street.

To further enhance transport efficiency during the Marathon event, the RTA has also announced extended Metro operating hours.

On Sunday, January 12 the Metro will operate from 5am instead of 8am.
