UAEs Careem Pay Expands Remittance Service To 18 European Countries

Careem Pay, the fintech division of the Careem Everything App, has expanded its international remittance service by launching 18 new European corridors, enhancing cross-border money transfer options for UAE residents.

Careem users can now send near-instant money transfers to bank accounts in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

These additions come over existing corridors including Germany, France, Ireland, Spain, and Italy.

Careem Pay enhances EU reach

Careem Pay previously introduced money transfer services to some of the largest remittance corridors such as India, Pakistan, the UK, and the Philippines. The latest expansion extends its reach to EU countries.

Mohammad El Saadi, Vice President of Careem Pay said: “Sending money abroad can often be expensive, slow, and full of unnecessary complications. Many expats still rely on physical exchange houses or banks to send money abroad, while others search for money transfer apps that avoid high fees and delays. By expanding our remittance service to cover more European countries, we’re offering customers a fast, hassle-free way to support their families, pay their mortgages, and manage personal expenses with just a few taps on their phone.”

Careem Pay’s remittance service allows customers to transfer up to AED 150,000 per transaction and AED 450,000 monthly. The service prioritises speed and reliability, with an average of eight out of 10 transfers to EU destinations being processed in under 30 minutes. Transactions are conducted via SEPA transfers.

The service also offers competitive exchange rates that are 50 per cent cheaper than traditional banks. Additionally, Careem Plus members benefit from exclusive rates and zero-fee transfers, making it a cost-effective solution for international payments.

Careem Pay’s enhanced remittance service aligns with its broader mission to simplify financial services in the region through a comprehensive payments platform that includes money transfers, bill payments, and digital wallet services.

To use the international money transfer service, customers can download or open the latest version of the Careem app and select ‘Send Money’ on the home screen.
