Amman: Jordan’s Armed Forces have intercepted and destroyed 20 missiles launched from Iran towards the Azraq area in Zarqa Governorate early on Thursday.

In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), a military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army confirmed that the interception was carried out by air defence systems supported by Royal Air Force aircraft.

The source said missile debris fell in the area following the interception, but no injuries or material damage were reported.

Engineering teams were deployed to manage the remnants of the missiles and ensure that no unexploded materials remained at the sites.

The Armed Forces stated that they continue to closely monitor regional developments while maintaining a high level of operational readiness in response to evolving security conditions.

The source reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting Jordan’s airspace, defending its sovereignty, and ensuring the security and integrity of the Kingdom’s territory.
